CALLING ALL MEDICS! Is there a doctor in the house?
There is a national shortage of skilled health workers in the UK which is great news for those of you hoping to restart a career over here. The NHS offers great salaries and a whole host of other perks, the UK economy is doing (comparatively) well and life here is (arguably) very good; but did you know you’ll need to pass an English exam before you’ll be able to apply for a job?
7.5 is the magic number
In order to work as a foreign doctor in the UK, you’ll need an IELTS certificate proving your competencies at band 7.0 or above, with an overall score of 7.5. Sounds easy? I’m afraid it isn’t. Some native speakers would struggle to get a 7.0 in certain components and in order to get a 7.5 overall, you’ll need an 8.0 in one of the papers! Now don’t let me put you off as it can be done but without the right understanding of the exam and language requirements, this certification might not be plain sailing. Don’t bang your head against a brick wall, let me help you and we’ll try to get it over with as quickly and and painlessly as possible.
